1. Who We Are
Funeral Live Streaming UK is operated by MJ Films, a UK video production business providing funeral live streaming and filming services.

MJ Films is responsible for the personal information it determines how and why to process. Where a funeral director, venue or other organisation arranges the filming, that organisation may also have its own responsibilities under UK data protection law.

- Booking information – including the name of the deceased, funeral date, times, locations and relevant service arrangements.

- Viewing information – such as viewing numbers, device information, approximate location and viewing duration where this is provided by the streaming platform.
- Video and audio – people attending a funeral may appear or be heard in the live stream or recording.

Children may occasionally appear incidentally in footage of a funeral service. We do not use funeral footage to profile individuals or to infer or categorise sensitive personal characteristics.

5. Filming at Funeral Services
Funeral services are filmed or streamed at the request of the client, family or organiser.
The client, funeral director or organiser is responsible for confirming that filming is permitted at the venue and for ensuring that attendees are appropriately informed that filming or live streaming will take place.
Where appropriate, additional notices may also be displayed at the venue.
People who have concerns about appearing in the recording should raise them with the family, organiser, funeral director or Mark as early as reasonably possible so that any practical adjustments can be considered.
Funeral footage will not be used for advertising, showreels, social media or other promotional purposes without separate permission.
6. Live Streaming & BoxCast
Funeral broadcasts and replays may be delivered using BoxCast, a third-party live-streaming platform.
Depending on the booking, a broadcast may be public, unlisted or protected by additional access controls.
When somebody watches a broadcast, BoxCast may process technical and viewing information such as IP address, browser and device information, approximate geographical information and viewing activity.
BoxCast is based in the United States and states that information used through its services may be processed and stored in the United States. Where international transfers of personal information are subject to UK data protection requirements, the applicable legal requirements for those transfers will apply.

7. Who We May Share Information With
We only share information where reasonably necessary to operate or provide the service. This may include:
- funeral directors, officiants or venues where necessary to arrange the service;
- trusted camera operators or production subcontractors where additional crew are required;
- live-streaming and video-hosting providers such as BoxCast;
- website, hosting and technical service providers;
- payment providers where applicable;
- accountants or professional advisers where necessary; and
- public authorities where disclosure is required by law.
We do not provide funeral footage or client information to third parties for their own advertising purposes.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
- Booking and financial records may be retained for up to six years where required for accounting, tax or legal purposes.
- Download links are normally available for four weeks after delivery.
- Internal archive copies of completed recordings may be retained for up to three months after delivery.
- Extended archiving may be provided for longer where this has been specifically requested and purchased by the client.
- Emails and correspondence may be retained where reasonably necessary for administration, support or record keeping.
Once a recording reaches the end of its applicable retention period, it may be permanently deleted and recovery cannot be guaranteed.
9. Keeping Information Secure
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information and recordings against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
No internet transmission or online storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but access to client material is restricted wherever reasonably possible.
