Arriving around 90 minutes early gives us time to work slowly and quietly before mourners arrive. We can test the internet connection, then reposition if one part of the building has a weaker signal.
We also prefer a rear or balcony camera position where the venue allows it. It is less intrusive, gives viewers the same general perspective as somebody attending in person, and makes it less likely that a standing guest will block the entire picture. The difference is that the camera can zoom in and the microphones can hear the service far more clearly.

Will the camera be distracting?
In our experience, the least distracting position is usually at the rear of the venue, or on a balcony where one is available. That gives roughly the same perspective as an attendee while keeping the camera out of the main sightline. It also reduces the chance of somebody standing directly in front of the lens, while the camera can still zoom in for closer views and our microphones capture clearer sound.
How early is access required?
In our experience, arriving around 90 minutes before a standard one-camera service gives just enough time to set up calmly without distraction. It allows us to position the camera and microphones, test the private viewing page and internet connection, and move the equipment if one part of the venue has a weaker signal than expected. Multi-camera arrangements may require longer.
